Description:

These images show the transformation of a patient who underwent bilateral DIEP flap breast reconstruction following mastectomy. The Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator (DIEP) flap procedure uses the patient’s own abdominal skin and fat to recreate natural-appearing breasts while preserving the abdominal muscles.

Before Surgery:
The preoperative image demonstrates the chest following mastectomy. Patients at this stage may experience loss of breast volume and contour, and are often seeking a reconstruction option that restores natural shape while avoiding implants.

After Surgery:
The postoperative image shows the results after bilateral DIEP flap reconstruction. The breasts are reconstructed using the patient’s own tissue, allowing for a soft, natural look and feel. Because abdominal tissue is used, patients may also experience a flatter abdominal contour similar to a tummy tuck.

Individual Results:
Results vary based on anatomy, healing, and surgical plan. Additional stages—such as refinement procedures, nipple reconstruction, or fat grafting—may be performed to further enhance symmetry and contour.
