Candidates for dermaplaning should have relatively tolerant skin due to the somewhat abrasive nature of the treatment.
Patients with active acne should avoid dermaplaning because it could open the active spots and spread bacteria. Candidates for dermaplaning will want to discontinue the use of retinol, aggressive AHA or BHA treatments and physical exfoliation a few days before your scheduled treatment to avoid irritation.
