With spring wedding season in full bloom, the internet is running wild with bridal beauty tips, must-have skincare products, and fad treatments (kitty litter facial? Yuck!).
But when one of Refinery29’s fashion writers decided it was time to start preparing her troubled skin for her wedding, she found that over-the-top changes weren’t for her. Knowing she had to make a change—and ditch her overly complicated and unhelpful beauty routine—she began planning her “skintervention” with celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas.
Here at CPS we agree with keeping things simple, yet effective, and want to share a few key things this bride-to-be learned:
- Keeping it simple is not only convenient, it can also do wonders for your skin. A daily three step routine is all you need. “Cleanse, tone, and moisturize” is the key to cleaner, clearer, and firmer skin. (We also suggest a fourth, highly important step: “protect.” We recommend using and reapplying SPF daily!)
- Detox your face! You don’t want to be reliant upon layers of thick concealer, foundation, and powder on your big day. Skip the makeup entirely for a few days and work up to a light, tinted moisturizer.
- Facials are a worthy investment. A professional touch can help clarify the skin and leave your face soft, smooth, and radiant. It’s recommended to schedule a facial every six to eight weeks. This may seem excessive, but think of all the money you’ll save on extra makeup to hide dull or blemished skin!
