KYBELLA® in Washington D.C.

Slim Your Chin Without Surgery

Aging is a fact of life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bend the rules in your favor. Gravity, loss of skin elasticity, and the accumulation of stubborn fat can all take a toll on your neck, leaving you with a bit more than you bargained for under your chin. Luckily, you now have more options than ever.

Traditionally, submental liposuction or neck lift surgery were the only ways to effectively reduce a double chin. But for those who aren’t quite ready to have surgery, there’s a new option in town: Kybella® double chin injection at our Chevy Chase and Tysons Corner practice serving Washington, DC; Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and other nearby cities. This injectable medspa treatment is the first of its kind to dramatically improve your neck contour and minimize the appearance of a double chin.

How Does the Kybella® Treatment Work?

Recently approved by the FDA, Kybella® is an injectable solution made of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps your body absorb and break down dietary fat.

Kybella® helps to reduce moderate to severe pockets of fat underneath your chin, and it’s the first and only treatment of its kind to do so.

When injected into the areas below your chin, Kybella’s unique formulation destroys fat cells, making them incapable of storing or accumulating fat and gradually providing a smoother, more youthful neck contour—without the need for surgery or extended downtime.

Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?

Kybella® is a great option for those hoping to reduce excess fat under the chin but who aren’t ready for more invasive measures or don’t require surgery to achieve their desired results. Good candidates for treatment should meet the following criteria:

  • Have pockets of stubborn fat beneath the chin or around the jawline (submental fat)
  • Want to try a nonsurgical, minimally invasive treatment
  • Are non-smokers in general good health.

The best way to determine if Kybella® is a good choice for you is to speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Together, you can discuss your options and determine the best course of treatment for helping you achieve your goals.

What to Expect From Your Kybella® Treatment

After evaluating the areas under your chin, we will begin by precisely and carefully injecting Kybella® where fat has accumulated. Most patients report that treatment is comfortable, though you may feel a slight stinging sensation at the point of injection. Treatment should last no longer than 30 minutes, after which you will be able to resume normal activity immediately.

Side effects are minimal, though you may experience a bit of swelling, bruising, or tenderness around the injection sites for the first day. Though up to six treatments may be administered, most patients are thrilled with their results after just two to four treatments spaced at least one month apart.
