Facial Waxing in Washington D.C.

At Center for Plastic Surgery in Chevy Chase and Tysons Corner, facial waxing involves the same techniques as traditional waxing methods commonly used on the legs, chest, or bikini area. We use a more refined technique and specialized materials for our facial waxing clients from Washington, DC; Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and other nearby areas because of the sensitive nature of the skin. Our licensed and qualified aestheticians can ensure your results are precise, healthy, and long-lasting.

Who Is a Candidate?

Anyone who has unwanted facial hair can greatly benefit from waxing. The most common areas of hair growth include the jaw, upper lip, and brow, but some sensitive skin types might be a consideration for avoiding waxing. If you’re prone to breakouts or have consistent acne, you may also look at other options. Some medications might need to be discussed with your aesthetician prior to your treatment, as they can affect your results.

The Treatment

To get the best results out of your waxing treatment, be sure not to pluck or shave the hair for a few days before the procedure. Moisturizing the day before will help reduce any irritation and ensure your results are optimal. This treatment uses a specially-formulated wax that is spread precisely over the area, then covered with a thin strip of fabric. The wax adheres to the fabric which is then abruptly removed in the direction opposite the hair growth, taking the hair shaft directly from the root. The skin is then soothed afterward to protect against irritation.

  • Results & Recovery

Be sure to avoid direct sunlight after your treatment, as this can increase your sensitivity. Also, avoid using harsh products or creams, as this can irritate the treated skin and cause ingrown hairs that can be painful. Results can vary from person to person, but they generally last from two to six weeks. Although the results don’t last as long as with laser hair removal, waxing treatments can be less costly and more precise.
