Childbearing and aging can be hard on a woman’s body in many respects; one of the most commonly experienced changes is one of the least talked about: loosened vaginal tissues. Changes in the appearance of the vulvovaginal area bother many women, and the functional effects can pose a real problem. Stretched, sagging labia and weakened vaginal tissues can lead to urinary stress incontinence, vaginal dryness, pain during intercourse, and discomfort wearing tight clothing.

ThermiVa®
If you are dealing with any of these issues, you don’t have to live with the physical and emotional discomfort any longer. Center for Plastic Surgery offers ThermiVa® non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation for women from Washington, DC; Chevy Chase and Bethesda, MD; Arlington and Fairfax, VA; and surrounding areas. This clinically proven treatment tightens, tones, and effectively strengthens loose or weakened vaginal tissues in a matter of weeks, with no downtime. It’s safe, pain-free, and takes less than 1 hour of your time.
How ThermiVa® Works to Quickly & Effectively Tighten Laxity in the Vulvovaginal Area
ThermiVa® tightens lax, sagging tissues using radiofrequency technology. This energy is delivered transcutaneously (through the skin), using a wand-like device. During treatment, the energy gently heats the external and internal tissues, including the labia and vagina, causing these tissues to contract and prompting the deep layers of the skin to produce new collagen.
In addition to improving the tone and tightness of the labia and external tissues, ThermiVa® can alleviate a number of problems associated with vaginal tissue atrophy, helping to:
- Reduce or stop stress urinary incontinence (i.e., you pee when you sneeze)
- Restore natural vaginal lubrication
- Improve orgasm and alleviate pain during intercourse
- Enhance sex for you and your partner
- Restore comfort when wearing tight clothing
- Enhance self-confidence and overall sense of well-being
What to Expect During ThermiVa® Treatments
Your experience begins with a private consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons; a female nurse will be present during this consultation as well. If it’s determined that ThermiVa® is a good option for you, your treatment will take place in one of our private, comfortable exam rooms. No special preparation is needed.
To begin treatment, ultrasound gel will be applied to the vaginal tissues to help the ThermiVa® wand move easily and comfortably over the tissues. The wand is placed on the tissues and passed over the labia, vulva, and internal vaginal tissues to deliver the radiofrequency energy.
Treatment is not painful, and no anesthetic is needed. If you have ever had a transvaginal ultrasound, the experience will be similar. Most patients feel only a mild, warm sensation as the wand is passed over the skin. You can return to your normal routine immediately.
When Will I Notice Results* With ThermiVa®?
Many patients notice improvements within a day or two of their first treatments, while others need a week or two to experience a difference. Results* continue to improve over several weeks following treatment as the body produces new collagen in the vaginal tissues.
How Long Do ThermiVa® Results* Last?
Everyone is a little different, but most patients experience their desired benefit with ThermiVa® for at least 6 months for external tissues, and 1 year or longer for internal tissues. Follow-up treatment can be performed at this time to maintain the results*.
How Many ThermiVa® Treatments Are Needed?
While some patients are satisfied with their results* after their first ThermiVa® treatment, most choose to have 2 to 3 treatments, spaced one month apart, to achieve their desired level of tissue tightening.
